Jungle Jam Celebration

Kristy and I took the girls to another post over the weekend. April is the month of the Military Child and they had a Jungle Jam Celebration in honor of all military children. I believe that all to often that the sacrifice these kids make everyday is forgotten.

We enjoyed the food, fun, and games.

Did I mention FOOD?

Kynsley enjoyed jumping on the bouncies and even spent a little time at the craft table. I loved that they had a little fence set up so we could write a message on it to our soldier. Then tie the yellow ribbon to stay on the fence.

We met up with other families from our PLT and I think we all had a WILD time. Right before we left we saw the Dare officer for our community. We just had to get a photo with the lion. Who knew it would be so much trouble to get all the kids looking at one time?!?!?!

Friday

It's ME

I was going through a few things and came across this photo. I showed it to Kynsley and asked her, who is this. She looked and said, ITS ME MOMMIE. The photo of Scottie as a child makes me smile because just like our daughter, all I see is her. Being apart is so hard but I look into her eyes and I see so much of him. She really helps me get through the tough days.

Tuesday

Kamryn's 1st Birthday

Our god-daughter turned one year old today. Kynsley and I were able to go over and help Kristy celebrate her special day. We had pink cupcakes and she opened her presents from her family and friends. We're so honored to be apart of her everyday life and look forward to Chad coming home to share in her little life experiences. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAMRYN

Donner Kebab

One of our favorite meals in Germany is getting the Donner Kebab. This was Kynsley's first time getting to try one. I went ahead and ordered the large thinking she'd like it. I know her VERY well, she loved it! So if you're wondering what a Donner Kebab is I'll tell you. To be honest, I'm not so sure myself what it is exactly. What I do know is thats its a Turkish sandwich. A pita pocket that is toasted and cut in half. Filled with meat, which is the part I'm not sure about. But I'm told its either lamb or turkey, I'd rather not know! But its seasoned and roasted. You then add your toppings, I get cabbage, lettuce, tomato, onions, and cheese. To top it off you can pick a dressing, I get the "white" its a garlic herb taste. Scottie usually gets the spicy. So if any of you come to visit we will take you out for a Donner Kebab.

Handful of Weeds

Kynsley brought these flowers to me on the playground, I already had my camera out on the blanket and captured this moment. As I watched her playing in the sand the lyrics of this song came to my mind. I remember my mommie singing it and I thought the words went well with the memory. I hope Kynsley will grow up to LOVE me as much as I love my mommie, and cherish our times like these.

Four years old, with dirt on my face
I'd been out in the yard
pickin dandelions all day
I burst through the front door
when I'd gathered enough
to give to my mom, to show her my love
when I held out my hands
she looked down at me,she said
I've never seen flowers
as beautiful as these

she's the one
who told me about Jesus
she's the one
who taught me to sing
she deserves, an armful of roses
she's satisfied with a handful of weeds

Now that I'm older and out on my own
I wish I could find more time
to make it back home
I couldve done better, I know in my heart
than to scribble a note
on a last minute card

And then she calls on the phone
and the first thing she says
is I've read this card over and over again

She's always known
what true love means
and I want her to know
what she means to me !

She's more than satisfied, with a handful of weeds.

Our Easter Celebration

I have to admit I was so sad this Easter. I felt out of place and lost. I was missing Scottie, my family, and my church. But I tried to make the best of it for Kynsley. I woke her up and she was so excited that the Easter Bunny had filled her basket.*Thanks to Granny Patty*
Later I cooked Easter dinner and invited a few of the other army wives over. Kynsley wore her Easter dress that Scotts parents sent to her. She also got a Easter bonnet full of goodies.
Although we were missing everyone we were able to celebrate the most important part of Easter. Kynsley watched a few movies about the TRUE meaning of Easter and she is still asking about Jesus having boo-boos on his hands.

I Can Only Imgine

Kynsley wanted her daddy to see her sing one of her favorite songs. This was out on our playground by our house.

Saturday

Egg Hunt

I took Kynsley to the Egg Hunt on post this afternoon. She looked so cute in her spring outfit that Grandpa & Grandma Penney sent her.
I was a little disappointed at the hunt because all they did was throw them out across the baseball field so we really didn't have much "hunting" to do. But she did get 7 eggs. When we left the field we were walking back to the jeep and she noticed a little boy who had an empty basket. After she asked him where his eggs where, his mother said, "guess we were too slow" Kynsley then said, "I got 2 blue ones, you can have one of mine: she then put an egg of hers into his basket. I was so touched by her act of kindness. Its amazing how sweet she actually can be "at times"

After the Hunt we had packed a picnic and met Kamryn and Kristy on the playground for an afternoon of play time and eating.
